Sundarbazar, Lamjung 15Asar
As we know Nepal is basically an agrarian country. But Nepalese farmers still have to depend upon monsoon rain.Farmers of my locality are busy in welcoming monsoon season. They are working hard for the plantation of paddy in their field. Transplanting is the most common and elaborative method of crop establishment for rice. Rice seedlings grown in a nursery are pulled and transplanted into puddled and leveled fields 15 to 40 days after seeding. Many people of my locality uses traditional method for transplantation of rice which seems to be hard. But the farmers are enjoying this method. People have to wait their turn for planting rice.Knowing that traditional method of transplanting takes more labour, they have no choice for other method. They plant rice every year to eradicate starvation problems in near future. Many families are only depending upon agriculture. In order to live life they have no choice other than growing crops.
On the occasion of 15 asar farmers sing some traditional songs, play with muddy water and ask for more rain to god. They eat dahi- chauira after they are done with the rice transplantation. Not only the Farmers of my locality but farmers from all over Nepal celebrate 15 asar, believing that it will lead to prosperous yield. Every year on this day people gather in one person field for mela. On that day they start to work early so that, they can finish rice plantation and start to celebrate.
